Text message updates

Reftek, LLC assigns referees to youth soccer games in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Referees who officiate for us can choose to receive text messages about their own games. This page explains how that choice is made and how to reverse it.

How referees opt in

Text messages are never switched on for someone by default. A referee creates an account at reftek.us and connects with Reftek. On their own profile page, beside the field for their mobile number, they must answer a question before the number can be saved at all:

The wording shown to every referee is:

Reftek will text you about your officiating: when a schedule is posted, games you can claim, changes to a game's field or time, cancellations, and confirmation of games you have taken. Message frequency varies with how many games are scheduled, typically a few a week during the season. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to stop them, or HELP for help. See our Terms and Privacy Policy. We never share your number with anyone else for marketing.

What we send

A schedule has been published, and which games are open to claim
A change to a game's field or start time
A cancellation, including for weather
Confirmation of a game the referee has taken

We do not send marketing or promotional messages of any kind.

Frequency and cost

Message frequency varies with how many games are scheduled. During the season expect a few messages per week; outside it, considerably fewer. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan.

How to stop

Reply STOP to any message. You can also change the setting on your profile at any time, on the same screen where you made the choice. Stopping texts does not affect your account or your assignments; we will reach you by email instead. Reply HELP to any message for help, or contact us at tim@reftek.us.

Your number

We never sell, rent, or share mobile numbers with third parties for marketing. Numbers are used only to send you messages about your own officiating, and are shared only with the messaging provider that delivers them for us. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail.
